The world’s most beautiful and famous have swallowed his advice. He wrote one of the biggest selling diet books of all time, and it was based on his extraordinary belief that you could eat as much as you desire and still lose weight.
His name was Dr Robert Atkins, author of the Atkins new diet revolution. To some Dr Atkins was a hero, to others his diet was scientific heresy and potentially deadly.

And it couldn’t be all those carbs in the meals that interfered with the high fat experiment no? Plus one meal is not long enough to change underlying biochemistry the way low carb does.
As for further studies…check Medline. This is the way humans have lived for zillions of years. The Inuits have done very well with it!!!

There were also Europeans who lived among the Eskimos for years and did quite well on their diet. So much for the argument that thousands of years of adaptation made the Eskimos unique.

After watching the entire series I see they came to the same conclusion Dr. Atkins did in his books; protein makes you feel full. And here the BBC claim it was them who discovered it. LOL.

Nice documentary… but… I can eat more than 3000 calories a day as a 75 kg female without exercise and if I keep the carbs below 20g I actually can loose weight with that much calories. How is this possible BBC? I guess your answer is a bit too easy.

Atkins work’s becasue you are forced to not eat processed food’s….plain and simple ur eating whole foods and whole foods are better for you and satisfy you! Atkins Rocks!

The Atkins diet is true and correct. It lowers cholesterol, thwarts off diabetes and high blood pressure and does not cause heart disease – HIGH SUGARED FOODS CAUSE PLAQUE IN THE ARTERIES – NOT FAT. We are from anglosaxon decedents and for centuries were pure meat eaters with little fruit and vegetables. True. You only need to look at some of the people who run marathons – some run just fine and yet are still flabby and carrying extra weight. Oprah for example. Yes, she was thinner then, but hardly lean.

I think if the diet is abused, where people take a absolute huge amount of meats and protein it will probably be a health hazzard in the long run, but if its followed sensibly and is fairly split between meat, dairy and veg, I can see a day when this diet will be the leading diet recommended for overweight people

The Atkins Diet makes total common sense to me, its a hunter gatherer diet, meat, veg, small amount of fruit, I have lost a few stone on this, and it feels fab that I can eat and feel full, unlike calorie controlled diets I have been on in the past and literally staved myself.

How could losing weight be bad for you? How could losing a lot of weight ever be bad for anyone? If you feel good, it’s good for you. I am living proof. It’s always better to be thinner than overweight. Think about it.

Do u know how many people exercise and still don’t lose weight? Yes, exercise is good for you. That is true. However, I did not do any exercising on Atkins and still lost quite a bit of weight. Now I do walk 2 miles per day but not to lose weight. I do it for my health and for my mind. It relaxes me. Some people do try what you suggest and it doesn’t work for everyone my friend. All I know is that I´ll stay a low carber for the rest of my life. Low Carbs are one of the only 2 ways to lose weight safely, the other is stomach reduction surgery. ALL NUTRITIONISTS !!!

I think its true the motto that says that “a calorie is not always a calorie”. These people are dumb, everybodu know that KETOSIS causes the loss of excessive apetite, Ketones are apetiote suppressors as a control of Insulin delivery is, both this control and higher levels of Ketones on the blood are achieved on the atkins diet. thus the apetite reduction.

This is from someone that has been over weight all their life. It makes perfect scence to me. I am not at all hungry on Adkins and now I know why. I do however suffer with kidney problems when I do without carbs altogether so I make sure there is enough salad with a meal and lots of water at all times. It does work. I am not in the least hungry when I’m on Adkins.
